Dawn Kozarian is a Board Certified (NCC) Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). She is also an ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) informed therapist. (ACT is a researched based therapy that is particularly effective for adults and teens that struggle with anxiety or depression.) Since the inception of her private practice in 2006 Dawn has applied ACT principles with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, divorce, or other life changes and has had much success with it. Having studied gender issues for years, and having men in her life that she deeply respects, Dawn has developed skill sets specifically to help men increase their emotional awareness and improve their relationships. Her particular strength is in working with couples. She understands on a professional level, and from a personal perspective, the challenges that come with marriage, divorce, raising children, and blended families.
In the past, Dawn has been a special education teacher for children with emotional behavioral challenges; and she has worked for Children’s Bureau as a counselor and educational liaison. She is a certified Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) therapist specializing in teens who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event. Dawn is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), the Indiana Counseling Association (ICA), National Board of Certified Counselors Association (NBCC), and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS). In addition to one-on-one therapy and couples' counseling, Dawn is available for various workshop presentations, and achievement/intelligence testing.
